Believe it or not, my excitement and enthusiasm for vintage jewelry and accessories actually started with a crowded cupboard of plastic Tupperware. One evening I decided I was fed up with cheap, plastic products, and began a search on the internet for vintage glass Pyrex storage containers. What I discovered is that I was not the only one on a search for pieces from the past. My search to discover unique vintage housewares led me to fabulous jewelry finds. Perusing one estate sale after another, I couldn't help but notice the decorated tables piled with vintage jewelry. Who couldn't resist a quick peek at 1920's crystal necklaces, mid-century rhinestones earrings, or 1940's hats and purses? Well, a quick peek wasn't enough, and I soon realized that these items had a fabulous history. From 1800's necklaces, to Art Deco rings, I began buying, collecting and researching the history of vintage jewelry, purses and hats. My bookshelf is filled with references for costume jewelry designers, maker marks and how to identify purses and hats from each decade. Just like any collector, I can't keep as much as I buy, and Etsy is the perfect place to send these fabulous pieces out of be worn, cherished and loved all over again. In fact, my customers are the best part of this job, and are what keep me exploring, and searching for more. It's been such a thrill to hear stories about how a piece from our shop is able to serve as a replacement for a long lost item once gifted by a beloved family member, husband or friend, and now that person is reconnected with a special memory from the past. Seeing a necklace, earring set or brooch be a part of a bride's special day has also been a reward of owning this shop. I recently had the joy of helping my sister-in-law select a 1800's necklace to wear with her lace dress for a special ocean side wedding to my younger brother.
